About

The best souvenirs are meals.

Souvenir Eats exists for travelers who do not want to waste their limited meals on average places.

We choose a small number of restaurants per city because more options usually create more stress. The goal is not completeness. The goal is confidence.

A restaurant qualifies when it gives a traveler something memorable, specific, and hard to replace: a dish, a room, a ritual, a local flavor, or a reason to build the day around the meal.

How this started

You have to eat anyway.

Every trip started the same way: hours of research, dozens of tabs, and a pile of options that ranged from great to forgettable. The problem was never a lack of restaurants. It was figuring out which one was actually worth the meal slot.

We are based in Salt Lake City, which means a lot of road trips through the West. Over time, a different question started replacing "where should we eat?" — what is the one place here that we would genuinely regret missing?

That shift changed how we travel. Some meals are just fuel. But the right one can become the story you tell about the trip. The green chile at a roadside stop in New Mexico. The lamb at a family place in a hill town. The bowl of something you had no idea existed until you sat down.

We started calling these souvenir eats. Food you can only have in that place, at that time, that you would not find anywhere else. The kind you still talk about on the drive home.

You are going to eat three meals a day on vacation regardless. Souvenir Eats is for making at least one of them count.

The question we ask

If you only have a few days, where do you have to eat?

Not the most popular. Not the most reviewed. The place that is genuinely, specifically worth your limited time — the one that earns its spot in the memory of the trip. That is the only question Souvenir Eats is trying to answer.
